 2018 “Chinese Bridge”Chinese Proficiency Competition for Irish College Students

The 2018 Chinese Bridge Competition for Irish college students will be held on 7th April, 2018. The competition offers a platform for university students all over the world to demonstrate their Chinese skills and share their Chinese learning experience with others. The competition is aimed to increase Chinese learners’ enthusiasm to study and understand more about Chinese language and culture. The competition is organized by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), and presented by the Education Section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ireland, UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland and the Irish Institute for Chinese Studies at UCD.

Time:

9.30am - 17:30pm, Saturday, 7th April, 2018.

Requirements of the contestants:

18 to 30 years of age; non-Chinese nationals; non-native Chinese speakers; College students; not an award recipient in last year’s Chinese Bridge competition. (Note: Contestants usually represent their native countries, unless an agreement is made to state that he/she may represent other counties.)


Registration

1. For registration form please send email to xuan.yang@ucd.ie.

2. Scan the QR code to enter the online registration page and finish the submission.

The Deadline of Registration:

1st, April ,2018 (Sunday)


 

The Competition Focus is on:

1) Chinese language proficiency:

listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

2) Chinese cultural skills:

Chinese songs, dances, instruments, drama, martial arts, calligraphy, painting, etc.

Programs:

The competition has 2 phases: Preliminary Competition and Final Competition.


 

Preliminary Competition:

1) 90s Self-introduction and Prepared Speech in Chinese (Any topics related to China) 50%

2) Chinese Arts Performance Contest (Within 2 mins) 50%

Eight participants will be selected to enter the final round in the afternoon of the same day.


 

Final Competition:

1) Speech Contest with the given topic: One World One Family 50%

Speech within 2 minutes, followed by Q&A section

2) Chinese Arts Performance Contest 50%

Within 5 minutes, points would be deducted if time limit exceeded.

Prizes:

All participants will be awarded with certificates or awards according to their performances.

(To participate the international level final competition held

in China, and probably obtain Confucius Institute Scholarship)

l No. of 2nd Prizes: 2

l No. of 3rd Prizes: 3

l No. of Award for Eloquence & Intelligence: 1

(the winner will be selected from all the participants)

l No. of Award for Talent & Knowledge: 1

(the winner will be selected from all the participants)
